Company History
Shirk's Tree City Supply, Inc. was organized in 1951 as
the Glenn W. Weston Co., Inc. which sold Minneapolis-Moline
farm machinery and DeLaval Dairy Equipment, etc. Glenn Weston
and Charles E. Shirk owned the business as equal partners.
In 1962, Charles E. Shirk bought Glenn Weston's interest
in the business and changed the Corporation to Shirk's Tree
City Supply, Inc.
During 1962 we became an IHC dealer in both farm equipment
and motor truck. An additional service area was added to
the original building in 1963.
During the following years, four adjoining properties were
purchased giving us a total area of about nine acres. Major
purchases were the Mianry Service Station (where the offices
are now located) in 1974 and the six acres purchased in
November 1981.
On December 31, 1986 our agricultural division was terminated
in order to expand our truck sales and leasing business.
Our new business name became Shirk's International.
Due to the expanding transportation industry and the growing
need for service in our market, an additional service area
was added to the original building in 1989.
In April of 1997, we purchased Hull's Truck & Trailer from
John R. Hull. This allowed us to become the only major truck
and trailer repair shop in the surrounding area. It also
allowed us to operate a second shift, which again, proved
our commitment to customer service.
We are constantly searching for opportunities to improve
our business and provide superior service to our customers
within the community.
